Valentine’s Day!

OK, not the best start to the day. Three adults in the house: me, my husband, and my Mother-in-Law. So, no surprise that there are also three cars and three different destinations in the morning. Works great except that one car won’t start. No wonder, the car lived in South Carolina for its first 20 yrs of life. This morning’s DC temperature was 24 F.

No problem, we can get by with only two cars, really!

So off we go when car number two starts a terrible rattling sound. Too late to turn around, I’m committed to taking the freeway all the way in to work. With prayer I make it to work but my nerves were quite frayed! I call Hubby, Love-of-my-life, and he drives out to my job to check on the car. Turns out the lug nuts holding the wheel to the car where either sheared off or loose! Am I glad I prayed!

Next stop the mechanic’s. One car left, the kids still need to be picked up from school and there is still the after school judo practice (can’t miss it because of a tournament on the weekend). I really am getting to the Valentine-y part. Remember, Hubby came to my work, we drove both cars to the mechanic’s, left one and drove TOGETHER to pick up the kids. Then we dropped off the kids at judo and slipped off to try a new-to-us Jamaican cafe.

Had the day gone as originally planned. I would have gone off to work, alone. Hubby would have picked up the kids and “played” judo. Mother-in-Law and I would have spent a quiet evening together waiting for my Hubby and the kids to return from judo (at 9 PM). We all would have tumbled exhausted into bed and nodded off to sleep. Instead, I got an impromptu dinner on the town with my husband, Mom made dinner for the kids, and I’m no longer so exhausted. Time for bed…

Good night!

About Sister Notes

I'm a sister, mother, cousin, and aunt. My family and friends are spread all over and it seems we rarely make the time to connect with each other. I hope that by blogging we can connect and share those little tidbits and life lessons that keep us going each day!
