Break the Bottled Water Habit!

Did you know that bottled water is full of oil?!Break the Bottled Water Habit

Sounds silly, doesn’t it? But think about it…how much oil does it take to produce and transport that “convenient” portable water bottle you may have just picked up from the grocery store?

Answer: pour out a fourth of the water from the bottle and replace it with oil and I don’t mean the virgin olive kind. Yuck!

Ah, but you reuse that flimsy, plastic bottle several times and then drop it in the recycling bin, you say.

OK, I’ll ignore the energy and petroleum input required to manufacture that water bottle; and I’ll ignore all of the reports and studies that say you are NOT supposed to reuse those disposable water bottles. And, I’ll even ignore that many of those water bottles end up in landfills and are NOT recycled despite our best efforts, even when we put them in the recycling bin (along with the trash carelessly dumbed by someone else).

Why not use a more permanent water bottle instead? Think of the personal financial benefit from not continuing to buy that case of water bottles every month or so!

But, don’t take my word for it, check out The New American Dream‘s Challenge for more information, and make the pledge to Break the Bottled Water Habit!
