Sustainably Hosted

My First Official Sustainable Act of 2009

I started Notes to My Sister in January 2008. That means my year-long web hosting subscription was due for renewal this month. This in turn, meant that I had to choose a web hosting provider. Ah-ha, another choice! Another opportunity to choose sustainable!

Sure enough, a little hunting turned up several options for green web hosting. Since my 2008 host was not among them, I decided to investigate my options. That’s when I discovered Sustainable Websites! Of course, I was instantly drawn to the name. The price and features fit my budget and my websites current needsĀ  with plenty of room to grow. Above all, Sustainable Websites offsets 100% of their energy usage with certified wind power! The real hook for me, however, was the opportunity to join their network of green business entrepreneurs. What better way to easily expand my knowledge of sustainable choices?

With only a year’s worth of website experience under my belt, I wasn’t sure of the mechanics for moving my website from one server to another. I sent in an inquiry and Sustainable Websites’ President, Mr. Ivan Storck, personally responded. He reassured me that he and his staff would help me along the way. Sure enough, that’s exactly what they did! They uploaded my files onto their server and then patiently helped me overcome some of the bumps as I reoriented myself with the directories. As you can see, I’m up and running and reinvigorated by that cool, green, wind power breeze!

About Sister Notes

I'm a sister, mother, cousin, and aunt. My family and friends are spread all over and it seems we rarely make the time to connect with each other. I hope that by blogging we can connect and share those little tidbits and life lessons that keep us going each day!
