Sunday, March 8th was International Women’s Day. This year’s theme is: Women and men united to end violence against women and girls.
Did you know that International Women’s Day has been observed since the early 1900′s? I’d only just learned about it a few years ago! And it seems every year, I’m reminded after the date has passed. So, this year, to help me remember, I plan to make it a point to share with you some of the women who have inspired me.
Please take a moment to consider the condition of women and girls around the world. If you haven’t done so yet, check out the Girl Effect website, you may have seen their add on Yahoo or elsewhere…
Consider sharing your list of fabulous women too. If you add a post on your blog, please leave a comment to let me know.
To thank her for discussing International Women’s Day on the airwaves, I’m listing Ms. Amy Goodman of Democracy Now! as my first Wonder Woman. You can listen to today’s broadcast here. On the show you will hear from author and activist, Alice Walker, another one of my Wonder Women.
